Orikio: a technological and societal revolution thanks to sound

Orikio (formerly OSO-AI) is in the spotlight in an article by Echoes, which looks back on the career of Gilles Debunne, co-founder and technical director of the startup. The article highlights the technological innovation and the societal impact of Orikio, a pioneer inAmbient Intelligence And theAcoustic Monitoring applied to the medico-social field.

Founded in 2018 in Brest, OSO-AI aims to putartificial intelligence at the service of humans. Unlike conventional devices that provide unique detection, the OSO-AI service is capable of exploiting all the richness of the sound environment to secure residents.

“I want to write the future with artificial intelligence at the service of humans and nothing else” - Gilles Debunne, CTO.

Thanks to this advance, Orikio (ex OSO-AI) designed The Augmented Ear of caregivers, a technology that can detect and analyze unusual sound signals, such as a fall, a call for help or signs of distress. This device is revolutionizing the care of residents in Nursing homes and medical facilities, offering a gain in responsiveness for healthcare teams while maintaining confidentiality and respect for privacy thanks to the anonymization of data.

The article also highlights the major technological challenges faced by OSO-AI:

  • Develop an embedded, functioning AI in real time and in a secure way.
  • Differentiate between similar sounds taking into account acoustic and environmental context.
  • Ensuring a irreproachable ethics in the use of AI to ensure respectful and transparent use.

With more than 3,000 boxes deployed in a hundred establishments, Orikio is a key player inartificial intelligence applied to the medico-social sector. Already present in Switzerland and Monaco, the startup aims to extend its impact toNorthern Europe and Japan, where the challenges of aging and autonomy are particularly significant.

We thank The Echoes for this highlighting of the Orikio project and its ambitions. Find >>the complete article<< on their site!
