About Orikio

How does the solution work?

Orikio analyzes the acoustic environment to detect critical situations, such as alarming impacts, vomiting, or respiratory distress, as well as calls for help or comfort, through keyword recognition. The system learns each resident’s habits and adapts accordingly, enabling tailored alerts for increasingly personalized care.

What is the difference between this and a traditional alert system?

Sound is, by nature, a universal data source. This allows Orikio to adapt to all types of residents, including those who do not vocalize, and to detect a wide variety of situations, whereas a fall detector is limited to a single type of event. Moreover, unlike a nurse call system, which is used by only 15% of residents, Orikio requires no action from the person to trigger an alert.

How it works & technical details

How does the AI identify critical sounds?

Trained on a large health and social care sound database (over 150 sound classes), our artificial intelligence can identify critical sounds such as falls or respiratory distress. The analysis is performed in real time, without any recording.

What are the technical requirements for installation?

Installation is very simple and requires only two things: a standard power outlet and a stable Wi-Fi connection.
No complex wiring or construction work needed.

How does the system adapt to each resident?

Each resident has a small device installed in their room, which detects critical alerts as soon as the system is activated. The model then adjusts individually to each resident and their daily habits.

Safety & Privacy

Are the sounds recorded?

Sounds are processed in real time by the device and are not recorded, except for a few seconds of audio related to detected alerts, used to notify caregivers.
No data is stored.

Does the solution protect residents’ privacy?

The system continuously analyzes sound without ever recording, except in the event of an alert. It also automatically goes into standby mode whenever a third person enters the room.

How is GDPR compliance ensured?

Orikio is supported by a consulting firm specialized in data protection (GDPR) and fully complies with European regulations. In addition, Orikio was selected to participate in the CNIL’s regulatory sandbox, benefiting from several months of guidance that strengthen the internal work carried out to ensure GDPR compliance.

Where is the data stored?

Data is stored in France and Belgium for a period of 21 days. Sound segments that triggered alerts are kept for 21 days so they can be reviewed by the facility’s medical staff.A very small portion of these sounds is then automatically anonymized, unless you choose to opt out, and used solely for training purposes and continuous improvement of the service.

Funding & Support

What are the available funding options?

The solution is offered as a subscription, with different commitment periods. For longer-term agreements, payment can be made either as a long-term license purchase or as a monthly subscription. There are also trial options with no commitment, allowing you to test the solution and see how residents, caregivers, and management teams adopt it.Feel free to contact us for more information.

How to finance the solution?

There are numerous financing options. Some institutions finance the solution themselves, either directly or by leveraging tiered pricing when possible. Others rely on external funding.

Deployment & Ongoing Support

How long does a deployment take?

Deployment is very quick, about 2 minutes per device and per room. Installation simply involves mounting the unit on the wall. The facility then enters an observation period of about one week, during which caregivers are trained. The service can then be activated.

Who handles the installation?

Installation is carried out either by a technician or by an internal representative from the facility. A complete installation guide is included in the welcome pack to assist them. Our customer support team remains available for any questions.

How is system maintenance handled?

Maintenance is simplified:

• Devices that go offline are immediately reported in the app and on the monitoring dashboard.

• The technician (or the Orikio representative) can easily intervene by unplugging and reconnecting the devices. If needed, our customer support team will contact the person in charge to provide assistance.

What happens if the network goes down?

In the event of a network outage, the care teams are immediately notified via the provided phones, as well as through the reporting dashboard available to management.Orikio also ensures continuous monitoring of the entire fleet. If the issue persists, our technical team directly contacts the facility. This multi-level alert system ensures that teams are promptly informed and can take appropriate action.
